How well does the ZQuiet mouthpiece work?

The sleep clinics that prescribe anti-snoring mouthpieces to their patients report a 94% success rate. Individual results may vary.

Can my dentist or doctor make a custom anti-snoring device for me?

Yes, but remember that they will have to charge for their time. Costs can range from $400 up to several thousand dollars and the process requires multiple office visits.

Do I need a prescription?

ZQuiet is a prescription only, anti-snoring device; however, we are able to determine your ability to use a ZQuiet mouthpiece during the purchase process by having you answer our simple screening questionnaire for our prescribing dentist. If you are an appropriate candidate, you will be able to complete your order at the end of the survey.

Can I breathe through my mouth when wearing a ZQuiet?

Yes! Unlike some stop-snoring devices, ZQuiet lets you breathe completely naturally, through your mouth and nose. We recommend you do not buy any device that restricts breathing through your mouth or nose.

Can I open and close my mouth while wearing a ZQuiet?

Yes, thanks to our patent-pending "Living Hinge" technology! Opening and closing your mouth while sleeping is a natural process. and the ZQuiet "Living Hinge" provides comfortable jaw mobility. Many customers appreciate the fact that they can even talk or take a drink without having to remove the mouthpiece.

Is the ZQuiet mouthpiece hard to fit?

ZQuiet was specially designed to fit nearly everyone. No boiling or molding is required—just use it exactly as provided. If needed, you can trim your ZQuiet with small scissors to improve fit and comfort. After trimming, use a fingernail file or emery board to smooth any rough edges and avoid irritation to the gums. How do I clean my ZQuiet?

ZQuiet should be disinfected after each use to prevent the growth of harmful germs and bacteria. We recommend using the Sonicbrite portable Ultrasonic cleaning system to maintain oral health and prolong the life of your anti-snoring mouthpiece. For a limited time, get $5 off the purchase of a Sonicbrite cleaning kit.

You may also clean your ZQuiet device in warm water with mild dish soap. For best results, use a toothbrush; however, do not use toothpaste, as it tends to discolor and alter the surface of the device. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap prior to storage.

How do I store my ZQuiet?

The golden rule is that you store your clean ZQuiet in the supplied case. This ensures that it will retain its shape and also will prevent accidental damage.

Will a jaw advancement mouthpiece help if I have sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition and something about which you should consult your physician. However, clinical studies have shown that jaw repositioning mouthpieces do help with breathing and snoring problems for people who suffer from mild obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Only your physician can make that determination.

Will my jaw be sore from being slightly forward during sleep?

The average person requires an adjustment period of 2 days to 3 weeks to reach maximum comfort. During this period you may feel a little tightness in your jaw muscles but this should disappear shortly after removing the ZQuiet mouthpiece. If you experience sharp or persistent pain, discontinue using the device. There are a few things you can try to speed up the process of relaxing the jaw muscles in the morning:

  • Stretch. Lie on your stomach and position your chin in the palm of one of your hands. Allow the weight of your head to gently relax the jaw muscles.
  • Chew gum. A harder gum, like bubble gum, is more effective. (Do not chew gum with ZQuiet inserted in mouth.)
  • Gently massage. Place your index fingers on your temporomandibular joint (the jaw joint) just in front of the ear. When you bite down you will feel the muscle tense. Relax and use your index fingers to gently massage this muscle in a circular motion.
